Creative Moves is the umbrella under which Julie Leir produces her creative and performance work. She instigates interactive and experimental performances rooted in dance, along with improvisational explorations of various environments. Her most recent work has been performing her ritual based dance piece “Shedding Skin” at Fringe Festivals across North America, collaborating with Callous Physical Theatre, creating burlesque shows in her home base of Pocatello, Idaho, and teaching dance classes to tiny humans and adults.
She has also instituted a daily improvisational practice that she shares via social media. (@CreativeMovesPErformance on TikTok, instagram, and facebook) It was not an intentional choice, but the word “healing” has been used to describe her work on more than one occasion.
She will tell anyone who will listen that she once won an award for being a weirdo. Not only did she win Elgin Fringe Festival's inaugural award for the “fringiest of the fringe,” they named the "Percolator" award after her piece "Percolate."
