Rain. Mud. Puddles. Camera. This is what happens! (Shot on my Android phone - I wasn't risking taking my nice camera out in the rain!) Video portion of a piece performed live at the "Tell Me a Story" Performance Installation at the Trasitions Art Gallery January 2014. Movement was created from "scores" created with elements of movement (body, space, energy, time, stationary and locomotor movements.) Dancers then taught each other overlapping bits of phrases to use at the beginning or ending of their original phrases to mimic the "Exquisite Corpse" method of storytelling/artmaking. What I learned:
1. My love of technology is balanced by an equal hate of technology. (Always fun when your editing program decided it just does not want to play anymore in the middle of editing. In the middle of "I need to get this done in two more days" editing. 2. Filming in front of a window looks cool, but then you also need to remember that it is a reflective surface and you may accidentally be in your video as a ghost reflection. 3. I love long cross fades. 4. Deadlines: both friend and foe. (See Number one) 5. I need to play around with sound a lot more - the first dance film where I used a bit of ambient, recorded with the camera sound. 6. Sometimes, you just have to let things go. There was a whole section we filmed at another location in the gallery, but I ended up not really liking it for the end project. The idea may get used again later for another project. Just a couple of pictures from the "Let's Misbehave...Again!" Burlesque Show!
Currently in rehearsals for the second burlesque show at Old Town Actors Studio. Working title is "Let's Misbehave (again!)" Aside from the utter fun of getting to wear feather boas and glitter with absolute sparkly abandon, working with a burlesque theme means I am able to fully indulge in both silliness and smart-assery.
Not a finished work, more of study. Challenging myself to use the technology at hand - making use of movie making apps on my iPad. Footage was all captured with the iPad during rehearsals for "Tell Me a Story."
